All Committee positions are appointed by the Board, subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Agriculture. The qualifications and term of each member is determined by the Board.

Subject to the Board's approval, the Committee is responsible for the following:

1. Evaluating, examining, and determining the qualifications for applicants for registration as a veterinary technician;
2. Recommending to the Board the subject, scope, form, date, time, and location for each examination;
3. Establishing continuing education requirements for veterinary technicians;
4. Defining the duties and responsibilities of registered veterinary technicians;
5. Recommending to the Board reasonable regulations; and
6. Assisting the Board in registering the regulating veterinary technicians.

The State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners is currently accepting applications for two vacancies on the Veterinary Technician Committee. One of these positions would act as chair of the Committee. Click here to download the application. Applications are reviewed by the Board and recommendations are submitted to the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Agriculture. Appointment of any member of the Committee is subject to the approval of the Secretary.

Please be advised that these are non-paid positions, but individuals who are selected to serve on the Committee may be reimbursed for expenses under the Standard State Travel Regulations as provided in the State budget.
