2012 Cooperative Gypsy Moth
Spray Program
This page was last updated on May 21, 2012. The Gypsy Moth Suppression program has finished spraying all spray blocks for the season. The 2012 Gypsy Moth Suppression Program will treat trees in specific spray blocks of Garrett County. For a large color county map with clickable links to the proposed spray blocks, click here. The specific spray blocks, scheduled treatment dates, and actual treatment dates will be posted as they become available. Follow us on Twitter @MDGypsyMoth for the near real-time information. How to use the spray schedule table Spray blocks are listed by county. In 2012, Garrett County is the only county scheduled to be sprayed. Under the county is a list of block names. Block names contain two letters for the county, followed by three numbers specifying specific blocks. Therefore, block number one in Garrett County is listed under Garrett County as, GA001, block number two in Garrett County is listed under Garrett County as, GA002, etc. Beside each block name is the pesticide selected for that block. Only B.t. (Bacillus thuringiensis - a pesticide formulated with a naturally occurring soil bacterium) will be applied to the trees. When a block is scheduled for spraying, we will place the scheduled spray date in the table, under "Date to be sprayed," after the name of the pesticide. When spraying is completed in a block, we will place the date of completion in the table under "completed." If no date appears in the columns next to a block name, it has not been scheduled or sprayed yet. Blocks are not sprayed in numerical order. Please be aware that many weather conditions can interfere with, or prevent, scheduled spraying. Conditions such as high winds, rain, rain predicted within four hours, fog, or humidity that is too high or too low can cause delay or cancellation of spray schedules. When a spray schedule is canceled, it will be rescheduled, but not necessarily for the next day. Please check our listings after a block is scheduled to be sure it was sprayed as scheduled.
