Robin Phillips, Food Services Manager for the Dorchester County Board of Education, is excited to announce that all students in the Dorchester County Public Schools will have the opportunity to get a taste of fresh Maryland grown and/or Maryland produced food in their lunches each day during the fourth annual "Maryland Homegrown School Lunch Week," September 12-16, 2011.
Students will eat produce from orchards in Thurmont and Westminster
Locally grown watermelons, apples and peaches are on the menu this week at Frederick County Public Schools as part of Maryland's Farm-to-School program.
Tuesday menus in Wicomico County public schools include Mardela Springs-grown watermelon as the school system recognizes Maryland Farm-to-School Week.

Carroll County Public Schools, as well as school systems across the state, are taking part in the fourth annual Maryland Homegrown School Lunch Week.
The 11 public schools in Dorchester County are taking part in "Homegrown School Lunch" week this week.

A kickoff celebration for the fourth annual is being held on Friday, Sept. 9 at the Benjamin Banneker Elementary School in St. Mary's County, from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
